Prime Source director Evgeny Scherbinin meets students of Suleyman Demirel University (SDU)

Prime Source director Evgeny Scherbinin met students of Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) and told them about the company and about the pilot project it is launching together with Almaty's digitalization department.

Late last year the city administration (akimat) launched the Unified Communication Space — a platform where universities, business and government can find common ground. Any IT company naturally wants the junior developer who joins it to already have exactly the set of skills and knowledge that will let them slot into the team quickly and be productive from day one. That is precisely what the pilot launched by Prime Source together with SDU is designed to deliver. The university, the company and, of course, the students all have an interest in this kind of cooperation.

Prime Source is Kazakhstan's largest software developer. Despite a demanding schedule, Evgeny decided to meet the SDU students in person — above all to get across the idea that building a complex IT system takes more than learning to work with this or that framework. It is rather like building a skyscraper: from the very outset there has to be a sound design worked through by architects and engineers. It is hard to learn to create large systems from theory alone. The shortest route to becoming a top-level professional is to join a team that has long and successfully been building complex information systems.

Prime Source, with its unique team, is exactly that kind of company. It has been in business for 14 years and has more than three hundred completed projects behind it, including projects outside Kazakhstan. Software written by Prime Source developers runs in 18 of the country's 22 second-tier banks. Ten of the information systems used by Kazakhstani government agencies were built by this very team. Of roughly four hundred employees, three hundred work in R&D. Ten paragraphs would not be enough to list the technologies in use.

The meeting with the students showed that the Unified Communication Space really does work.
