An educational IT Alliance has been created in Kazakhstan

The non-profit organization intends to focus on the development of alternative education and of private initiatives for training ICT specialists.

The Educational IT Alliance — a non-governmental institution and a market mechanism for developing the education technology industry — announced the start of its work at the Digital Almaty 2021 forum, “Digital Reset: A Leap into a New Reality.”

The non-profit organization intends to focus on the development of alternative education and of private initiatives for training ICT specialists, on creating the legislative preconditions and market mechanisms needed to scale successful projects in the industry on the basis of international best practice, and on working with stakeholders to bring curricula at schools, colleges and universities up to date.

Registered in the jurisdiction of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), the Educational IT Alliance will serve as a platform for consolidating and promoting private initiatives in the supplementary and alternative education sector, and will encourage open dialogue between government, business and the labor market in order to train the qualified professionals the digital economy requires.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Alliance signed its first cooperation agreements with the AIFC, UXStone, Prime Source and others. The initiatives are expected to focus on accelerating promising EdTech projects with the support of independent experts in IT education, and on building a single competency framework for developing the skills that specialists in digital industries need today. The parties agreed that their joint work will be directed at developing the market for education technology and continuing professional education in Kazakhstan and the wider region. The Educational IT Alliance will also address the quality of ICT training, including through the QWANT school.

Kanat Kozhakhmet, who signed on behalf of the Educational IT Alliance as its executive director, believes that the creation of the alliance will give impetus to the EdTech market by lowering legislative barriers and opening access to private investment, and will make it possible to transfer knowledge and technology into the industry.
